Derebucak County
Derebucak is thought to have been founded by no
mad tribes migrating from locations known as Bayramyeri, Yukarikoy, Balat, Cukurlar and Seniryeri between the years of 1200 and 1300.
Formerly it was bound to Alanya county of Antalya province, then to Akseki county. In 1900s, to Seydisehir county of Konya province. In 1967, it became a municipality and bounded to Beysehir.
It lies next to the Taurus mountains, 140 km west of Konya, on the way from Konya to Antalya. It is surrounded by Seydisehir, Akseki, Beysehir, İbradı and Manavgat.
There are 4 towns (Goynem, Gencek, Camlik and Pınarbasi) and 3 villages (Taslipinar, Ugurlu and Durak) bound to Derebucak.
There lives 5000 people of Derebucak abroad, especially in Germany, Norway, Sweden and France. And some 10000 people in different parts of Turkey, mainly in Konya and Beysehir.
Although there are not much historical remains, the caves of Balatini, Korukini, Suluin and Pinarbasi are worth seeing. There exist 14 frescos of saints. They have remained from times of early christianity (AD 6th-7th century). There also exist reliefs from the time of Hittite in Taslipinar village.
